Happy New Year and Welcome Back

Dear Ascot Parents,

Happy New Year to you and your family and welcome back o the start of Term 2. It is going to be an exciting term filled with lots of activities. You can also look forward to three Parent Partnership Presentations during term 2:

1. An update on the PYP at Ascot Early and Primary Years

2. Physical Education at Ascot Early and Primary Years

3. Mandarin at Ascot Early and Primary Years

We will let you know of the dates of these presentations in the near future. I have shared the video below with you as it is an excellent example of the power of inquiry, a growth mindset approach and a commitment to being a global citizen. This is the vision that Ascot has for your children. Enjoy.

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to a new school year. It has been a busy start but I am happy to say that all of our students have settled in very well and the Ascot learning community is in full swing. I would like to also welcome the new students and their parents to our school community. I have had an opportunity to meet with most of you over the past few weeks and I am happy that so many wonderful and positive families have joined Ascot this year. I encourage you to get involved at school in any way you can. From our Parent Partnership Presentations to our exciting cultural celebrations that happen throughout the year, there are so many opportunities for you to be involved in and help support our community.

Over the summer Ascot Early Years added a new library and over the past few weeks Ms. Liza, our school librarian has been working hard to make it a wonderful environment for our students. I encourage you to visit our new library and spend some time reading with your child. Our teachers also spent part of their summer holidays attending an intensive training workshop on the Primary Years Program (PYP) and are excited to implement what they have learnt into their classrooms.

As I mentioned at my presentation on Parent and Student Induction day, we will be introducing a variety of new initiatives this year. There are new polices (behavior and homework), new technologies (Chrome books and in class computers for student use), new learning programs (RaZ Kids and Numicon), new ways of communicating with us (Parent Line Groups and an increase in presentations for parents) and updated curriculum (Thai and Mandarin). With all these new initiatives and activities we are excited for the coming year and hope you and your children are as well.

As September 17th is the United Nation’s InternationalDay of Peace, Ascot PY will be reflecting on how we can help make our community a more peaceful place. Please spend time discussing your child’s ideas about this initiative with them. In this spirit of peace and harmony, I would like to wish all of you a peaceful and harmonious start to the upcoming school year and I look forward to working with you to help your child realize their full potential. Thank you for your continued support.

Best Regards
