Dear Parents and Students,

I would like to welcome all of you back to Ascot International School for the start of the 2015/16 academic year. I hope your families had a happy and healthy summer holiday. As you can imagine the teachers and all the staff here at Ascot International School are excited to see their old students and meet the new members of our school community. As a new member of this wonderful and family oriented community, I am also quite excited for the start of the new school year. Having come from the bustling city of Shanghai, I am truly enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of the Ascot campus.  I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of my students and their parents. Judging from the smiling faces of the students, parents and teachers I saw this morning, I have no doubt that this year will be one filled with laughter, joy, hard work, exceptional learning opportunities and lots of fun.
To ensure that our school community is a strong one that is built on effective communication I would like to share with you the various ways that you can communicate with your child’s teacher and with myself. Continuing the tradition we had at Ascot last year, classes will each have their own blog which will be regularly updated. A weekly review and preview will be introduced to ensure that you are fully aware of what your child is learning every week. In addition to the class blog there will also be a Primary School blog. This blog will showcase our specialist subjects such as Music, ICT, EAL, Chinese and Thai. It will also be an opportunity for me to share with you a weekly update of the Primary School. The website for the blog will http://ascotprimary.blogspot.com/
If you wish for your child’s image to be not be displayed on the class or Primary blogs please inform your child’s teacher. We also encourage you to email teachers directly if you have any queries you would like answered or to inquire as to the progress of your child. I would like thank you in advance for your support this year and I know that together as a community, we will provide your child with the learning opportunities that will help them realize their full potential during this year and over the coming years.
Best Regards
Mark Renie (renie@ascot.ac.th)
