Dear Parents
This week marks the end of the first half of Term 1. And what a
half term it has been for the students and teachers of Ascot. From our
successful House Colours day to our upcoming Charity Event this Friday, the
half term has been filled with many learning opportunities both inside and
outside the classroom. The second half of the First Term promises to be even
more exciting with Halloween, Book Week and the Loy Krathong celebration. We
also can't forget our Christmas activities and our annual Keystage 1
production.
There are just a few reminders for this week:
Please remember that parent teacher conferences are being held
on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week from 3-5 p.m. If you failed to make an appointment last week
please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher and arrange for a meeting. These meetings are a great opportunity to learn how your child has
adjusted to the new school year and what you can do to help them in their
academic studies and social development. It is also a great opportunity for our
older Primary students to play a large role in their education through
target setting and personal reflection. Please don't miss this opportunity. If
you are unable to meet on these two days please contact your child's teacher to
make alternate arrangements.
This Friday we will be holding our annual Charity event. This year
we are raising funds for the charity organization, Watsi. Funds raised will go
towards helping a little boy (Phyo) receive a necessary surgical operation. We would like to thank all parents in advance for their support with this initiative. Organized by the Primary and Secondary Student Council under the guidance of Ms. Lavery, we have no doubt that this will be a very successful event. This article provides parents with some ideas about helping their child become more involved with charity and serves as a good starting point for parents who wish for their child to develop a strong sense of social awareness when it come to charitable issues.
Over the next few days two very important letters will be sent home to parents. The first will inform you about our upcoming Halloween celebration on Friday October 30th. The second is regarding our Keystage 2 residential trips in January 2016. Please pay close attention to both and if you have any questions please feel free to email your child's homeroom teacher.
Finally I would like to inform all parents that we will be holding our first Curriculum Presentation for parents on November 6th at 3:00 pm. This presentation will focus on the new initiatives that we have introduced in out Math curriculum and will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and find out how you can support your child in Math. More information will be sent out over the coming weeks.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and restful half term break. Thank you for your continued support.
Ascot International Primary School Team
