Dear Parents
We would like to welcome you back to Ascot and to a new school term. We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable holiday and we would like to wish everyone in our school community a happy and prosperous new year. This first week of Term 2 has impressed all the teachers. The students have returned to school and settled in quickly with excellent behaviour and wonderful work ethic. They have made all of us very proud.
This term is filled with so many exciting events, activities and wonderful learning opportunities. From the start of the TISAC football season to our upcoming Sports Day and International Week, our students will have many opportunities to participate in academic, athletic, creative and social activities. The first big event on our calendar is our Key stage 2 residentials which will be happening next week Please read below for information about this and other items:
1. Next week our Key stage 2 students will be attending our annual residentials. Letters have been sent home today providing parents with the details of these trips and also with a list of items that students should bring with them. Please support us by ensuring that your child brings these items on the trip. Also, we encourage all parents to help these trips to be successful for all students attending by not visiting the residential sites during the trips. This is an opportunity for your children to learn about independence and responsibility. By visiting the site, you are depriving them of this learning opportunity and possibly creating emotional stress for them. We will be updating parents with SMS messages three times a day and photos on our class blogs. If a parent is discovered to have visited the residential site while the students are there, they will be asked to accompany the child back to the hotel for checkout and this will end the child's trip. We thank you in advance for your support.
2. On Monday and Tuesday Ascot will be hosting the TISAC Futsal U9(Monday) and U11(Tuesday) tournament. We would like to wish our students the best of luck in this tournament. We have no doubt that they will make Ascot PY proud.
3 As was mentioned in our last blog post of Term 1, Ascot PY will be changing its policy in regards to students who attend school when they are sick. If a child appears to be sick, they will be sent to the nurse. If after the nurse assess the child she fills the child is too ill to attend school and poses a health risk to other students the child's parents will be called to pick up the child from school. The child will not be let back into school until they have been examined and cleared by the nurse.
If you have any questions about any item mentioned above please feel free to email your child's homeroom teacher. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to working with all of you over the coming year so that together, we can provide the best opportunities for your children.
