Dear Parents

We have come to the end of our first term of school. What a wonderful and exciting term it has been. From field trips to different habitats to raising thousands for charity to our participation in academic and sports tournaments, this term has been a busy and successful one. We would like to thank all parents for their support in making this term productive and successful. The school will be closed from Saturday, December 12th, 2015 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 5th, 2016 at 7:00 a.m. Just a few issues for your attention this week:

1. This week Ascot participated in the Hour of Code.  This event encourages students around the world to learn about and participate in coding. Our Key stage 2 students were given the challenge to create a Christmas card. The winners were:

Year 3
Jenny
Ben

Year 4
Junsei

Year 5
Fuji
Keane

Please click on the winners names to go to their Christmas card. Congratulations to all our winners. For more information about the hour of code please follow this link.

2. Please remember that if your child is sick it is important that you do not send them to school as this puts all other students at risk of catching their illness. In term 2 we will be ensuring that all students are healthy enough to attend school and if they are not, we will be contacting their parents to pick them up and only bring them back to school when they have fully recovered. We encourage you to support us with this initiative.

3. We would like to thank all the parents for their support of our very successful Key Stage 1 production, Gnome Alone. It was an outstanding performance by our students. Please do visit this blog in the near future for pictures from the performance.

4. We would also like to thank the parents who attended out English Presentation last week. It was a nice opportunity for our community to get together to discuss how we can help strengthen our students' literacy skills. It was also an opportunity for you the parents to learn about what we teach in class and how it is taught. For follow-up information about how to help your child with phonics at home please visit this website. Also for parents who did not attend the presentation please check our school website in a few weeks as the presentation will be uploaded there.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all the members of the Ascot community a safe and happy holiday season. Thank you for your continued support.
